These exquisite dupattas are created with the Srikalahasti style of kalamkari, wherein the "kalam" or pen is used for free-hand drawing of the subject and filling in the colors. It is entirely hand worked using natural colors. Kalamkari in Srikalahasti has been around for 200 years approximately. Unlike other places where this particular craft is practiced, artists in Srikalahasti retains the ancient techniques of dyeing which have been passed down from generations.
